2.  My time

Reimbursement

I don't accept any forms of compensation for work within 50 miles of Saratoga, California.

When I need to travel farther, we can talk about some gas or lodging compensation. But please do not let money keep you from contacting me. If I sense that I can help you, I'll make it happen regardless of compensation.

The short version: I am an active retired Nazarene minister with experience in integrated circuit and software development, business leadership, and personal finance. My focus is building culture by resourcing others through my website and giving time to people and projects. I am a husband, father, and grandfather. I enjoyed playing many sports: baseball, basketball, football, racquetball, golf, and a little pickleball.

To know more: I grew up in Ohio, received a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Akron (1969), and worked on an MSEE at Syracuse University before moving to California in 1971.

I worked in integrated circuit development for 2.5 years at General Electric (Syracuse, NY). For the next 15 years, I worked at National Semiconductor (Santa Clara, CA) in integrated circuit development and engineering management, traveling extensively in the States, Europe, and the Pacific Rim. In 1986, I became Vice President of Operations at Cadence Design Systems, an electronic design automation software start-up.

I left high-tech in 1990 to prepare for pastoral ministry, doing volunteer ministry at San Jose First Nazarene (now The Point) while attending Fuller Theological Seminary.

In 1992, I became the Cupertino New Life Nazarene Church pastor and served in that role for 18 years.

Robin and I married in 1967, raised two children, and now enjoy three grown grandchildren.

In addition to sponsoring a Laotian refugee family, we did other refugee and immigrant ministries among people from Cambodia, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Zambia.

In May 2010, the Lord prompted us to retire. We remain active parishioners at Cupertino New Life and around the Northern California Nazarene District.  Our first project in retirement was to develop a Math Coaching program for under-resourced middle and high school students.

Now, we represent Christ by building community in our 108-unit HOA, where I serve as the chair of the Architectural and Website Committees, and Robin serves on the Clubhouse Committee. In 2021, we created the U Akron Social Justice Fund at The University of Akron Foundation. And I keep busy by writing a weekly Digest on the scriptures in the Revised Common Lectionary
