Local Compassion advice

Two thousand years ago Jesus took the initiative to come live among us.  While here, he graciously received the needy and often also took the initiative to help them.  He also taught his disciples serve the needy.  Today, Jesus invites us into lives of discipleship.  So it's no surprise when we who follow Jesus as Lord take the initiative to go serve the needy in our context.  After all, we are the body of Christ in our generation.  We can't follow Jesus' lead just by responding graciously when a needy person comes to us and asks for help.  Because we follow Jesus we deliberately go, find some needy people, and offer to help.  It's what authentic Christians do.

This resource provides advice for Local Compassion ministries in local churches.  It provides very practical advice on how to help needy walk-ins, as well as how to deal with needs within the church community.  And it provides perspective on organizing a local church for serving the needy in their area.  To access the resource, just click on Local Compassion.
